Model Y L PPF in Las Vegas: 2 Stunning Full Front Builds

Model Y L PPF was first on the list when two brand-new Tesla Model Y L SUVs rolled into our Henderson shop, one in white and one in silver. Both owners chose the exact same day-one package: full front 3M Scotchgard Pro Series paint protection film and ceramic window tint on every window, including the windshield.

Tesla launched the Model Y L in the US in July 2026, starting with a Premium AWD Launch Series at $61,990. It is the stretched, three-row version of the Model Y, with six seats in a 2+2+2 layout and captain’s chairs in the second row. At roughly seven inches longer than a standard Model Y, it is a genuinely bigger family SUV.

If you are shopping for Model Y L PPF or Model Y L window tint in Las Vegas, here is exactly what we installed, why each piece matters in our climate, and the questions owners ask us most.

Our 7-Step Model Y L PPF and Tint Process

The poster above shows the whole workflow both SUVs went through. Here is what happens at each step:

  1. Vehicle arrival. The Model Y L is checked in at our indoor Henderson facility.
  2. Inspection. Our project manager walks the vehicle with you and documents any existing defects before we touch it.
  3. Foam bath and decontamination. The paint gets a thorough wash and decon so nothing is trapped under the film.
  4. PPF cutting. We precision cut the 3M paint protection film on our Graphtec plotter, with extra material left to wrap the edges.
  5. Window tint cutting. The ceramic film for every window is plotter cut for an exact fit.
  6. Window tint application. We install ceramic tint on every window, windshield included, for heat rejection and UV protection.
  7. PPF application. Our installers lay the 3M film panel by panel and wrap the edges for a seamless finish.

Why Model Y L PPF Makes Sense on Day One

Tesla paint has a reputation in the detailing world for being thin and relatively soft compared to many other manufacturers. The best time to protect it is before the first chip.

Las Vegas does not make that easy. I-15, the 215 Beltway, and Summerlin Parkway move fast and carry a steady stream of rock chips, sand, and construction debris. The front bumper, hood, and fenders take the brunt of it on every commute.

That is the idea behind Model Y L PPF installed early: a clear, tough layer absorbs the hit instead of the factory paint underneath. It is the same reasoning behind every Tesla PPF job we do in Las Vegas, and the Model Y L is simply the newest Tesla to join that list.

Model Y L PPF vs Model Y PPF: What Changes

A common question is whether the new SUV can use regular Model Y film patterns. For the front end, the two are very close. Published comparisons show the Model Y L shares the front styling of the current Model Y, with the same closed-off fascia, light bar, and low-mounted headlights.

The differences show up further back. The Model Y L has a longer body to make room for the third row, a taller stance, and a larger rear spoiler. That matters most if you are considering full-body coverage, because anything behind the front of the car should be patterned for the L specifically. For full front Model Y L PPF like these two SUVs received, the front-end work carries over closely from the Model Y, though every piece should still be test-fit against the actual car.

What Full Front Model Y L PPF Covers

Full front is a specific scope, very different from a partial strip. On both of these SUVs, the full front package included:

  • The full hood
  • Both front fenders, in full
  • The complete front bumper
  • The headlights
  • Both side mirrors

A partial kit covers only part of the hood and fenders, which leaves a visible line where the film stops. Full coverage avoids that hard edge across the most exposed panels. Our full vs partial PPF coverage guide walks through the difference panel by panel.

Edge work matters just as much as coverage. Wherever a panel allowed it, we wrapped the film around the edge instead of cutting it flush on top of the paint, so there is no exposed line for dirt or a fingernail to catch. The close-up photos below show those wrapped edges. Learn why this detail matters on our edge-to-edge PPF installation page.

The film used for this Model Y L PPF package is 3M Scotchgard Pro Series paint protection film. It is self-healing, so light swirl marks and minor scuffs relax out with warmth, and it resists stains and chemicals from bug splatter, tar, and road grime that build up fast out here. It is backed by a 10-year warranty. For a deeper look at the material, see our paint protection film overview.

Ceramic Model Y L Window Tint on Every Window

A longer SUV means more glass, and the third row puts kids and passengers right next to the rear side glass for the whole ride.

Both SUVs received ceramic tint on every window:

  • The front windshield
  • The front side windows
  • The rear side windows
  • The third-row glass
  • The rear glass

Ceramic film uses non-metallic particles to reject heat, which means it does not interfere with cellular, GPS, or radio signals the way some older metallic films could. That matters on a Tesla, which leans heavily on connectivity. Quality ceramic films are also designed to block the vast majority of UV rays, which helps protect skin and slows fading and cracking on interior surfaces.

The tint on both vehicles carries a lifetime warranty. For the technical side of heat rejection in our climate, see how ceramic tint handles Las Vegas summer heat, or browse our full window tinting services.

Why We Tinted the Windshield Too

The windshield is the biggest single piece of glass on the car and the one pointed straight at the sun on most drives.

Windshield film is made specifically for that glass, so it cuts heat and glare coming at the driver while staying clear enough for everyday driving. On a large SUV like the Model Y L, finishing the windshield means the whole cabin gets the same heat protection instead of just the side and rear glass.

Caring for New Model Y L PPF and Tint

Both products need a short settling period after installation. These are general industry guidelines, and your installer’s aftercare instructions always come first.

For window tint, most installers recommend keeping the windows rolled up for a few days while the film cures. Slight haziness or small water pockets right after install are normal and usually clear as the moisture evaporates.

For paint protection film, it is common advice to hold off on washing for about a week, then hand wash with a pH-neutral soap and avoid aiming a pressure washer directly at film edges. Many owners also add a ceramic coating on top of PPF to make that upkeep easier.

How to Choose a Model Y L PPF Installer in Las Vegas

Because the Model Y L is so new, the installer matters more, not less. Ask any shop quoting Model Y L PPF to explain exactly which panels are covered, how edges are handled, and which warranties apply to the film and the tint. Our PPF installer checklist covers the questions worth asking before you book.

It also helps to see the same package on other cars. We recently installed this full front scope on a Corvette Z06 with full front PPF, and our project gallery shows more PPF, tint, and wrap work from our Henderson bays.

Model Y L PPF and Tint FAQ

Does a new Model Y L need PPF right away?

We recommend it. Tesla paint is known for being on the thin side, the front end takes most of the road debris, and a new car has no chips to hide yet. Installing Model Y L PPF before the first long freeway drive keeps it that way.

Is Model Y L PPF the same as a Model Y kit?

For the front end, the styling is shared with the current Model Y, so full front coverage is very similar. The longer body and larger rear spoiler are different, so full-body coverage needs to be patterned for the Model Y L itself.

Can you tint the windshield on a Model Y L?

Yes. We installed ceramic film on the front windshield of both SUVs in addition to the front sides, rear sides, third-row glass, and rear glass. Windshield film is designed for that glass and helps cut heat and glare where the driver feels it most.

What is the difference between Model Y L PPF and ceramic coating?

PPF is a physical film that takes the hit from rocks and debris so the paint underneath does not. Ceramic coating is a thin, slick, hydrophobic layer that makes paint or film easier to clean but does not stop chips. Many owners run both: film for protection and coating on top for gloss and easy upkeep.

How long should I wait to wash my car or roll down the windows?

General industry guidance is to keep tinted windows up for a few days and to wait about a week before washing fresh PPF. Follow the specific aftercare you receive at pickup.
